Look… I know anacondas look cool in movies (remember Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube in that film?).

But that’s not something you would want to keep in Davao.

A full-grown female can weigh 200 kg and measure 20 feet + long!

That’s longer than most living rooms in subdivisions here. They can hold their breath underwater for 49 minutes while stalking prey.

They’ve eaten caimans, jaguars, whole deer. One bite from those re-curved teeth and you’re not getting away… plus the constriction force they can deliver can crush bones.

The space requirements alone are imposible. You’d need a massive enclosure with a large pool (they’re semi-aquatic), temp control at 24-30°C with 60-80% humidity.

In Davao’s climate, the heat and humidity are actually perfect for anacondas… which means if one escapes, it could thrive in our enviroment. Imagine your neighbor waking up to a 20-foot anaconda in their fishpond.

LEGAL STATUS: Illegal in Philippines without DENR permits. CITES Appendix II species.

CARE TAGS: Illegal • Deadly • Massive Size • Specialized Care • Wild Animal

TRIVIA:

• Heaviest snakes in the world… heavier than reticulated pythons

• Give birth to live young, 20-40 babies at once

• Females are MUCH larger than males (sexual dimorphism)

• Eyes and nostrils on TOP of heads to see/breathe while submerged

• Can eat prey bigger around than themselves
