OVERALL RECOMMENDATION: ACTUALLY POSSIBLE (And we’re getting one for Mom!)

OK so… my wife loves Psyduck. Right…

But Psyduck is such a liability.

And, I just found out that Psyduck EVOLVES into Golduck when it finally gets its headaches under control.

And guess what?

There’s a breeder in Cagayan de Oro who has a Golduck that’s about to lay eggs and they’re accepting reservations for April delivery.

April 1st delivery date to be exact.

Perfect timing.

Here’s why Golduck is WAY better than Psyduck for Davao living.

First off, NO MORE HEADACHES.

When Psyduck evolves into Golduck at level 33, the chronic migranes disappear completely. The psychic powers that were causing all that pain?

Now they’re fully under control.

That red gem on Golduck’s forehead glows when it uses psychic abilities… but it WANTS to use them now instead of accidentally triggering them.

The size is actually managable for Davao.

At 170 cm tall and 76.6 kg, Golduck is about the size of an adult human.

Much bigger than Psyduck’s 80 cm, sure… but not impossibly huge like Snorlax or something.

We’d need to convert the backyard fishpond tho.

Golduck needs serious swimming space.

And speaking of swimming… Golduck is FAST.

Like the fastest swimmer among all Pokemon according to the Pokedex. It can outswim Olympic athletes easily.

In rough seas, calm lakes, doesnt matter. The webbed hands and feet plus that streamlined hydrodynamic body shape means it’s built for water. Perfect for Davao’s coastal location.

The hunting behavior is actually pretty cool. Golduck hunts fish in lakes and rivers, disables them with psychic powers, drags them to shore, and eats them.

So we’d need to budget for fresh fish daily… but we live in Davao where bangus and tilapia are cheap at Bankerohan Market. Figure P200-500 daily for fish depending on what’s available.

Temperature-wise, Davao’s perfect. Golduck can handle tropical to temperate climates. Our 27-32 degrees C is actually ideal unlike Psyduck who needed cooling. The gem on its forehead glows when it swims at full speed or uses telekinet powers.

My wife is going to LOVE watching it swim in the pond.

The psychic abilities are next level compared to Psyduck.

Golduck can communicate through telepathy… like actual communication. In the Pokemon Adventures manga, Blue’s Golduck could give knowledge to its trainer through telepathic transfer.

Imagine having a pet that can literally share thoughts with you. Or a pet that understands what I’m feeling. Free therapy sessions!

That’s incredible.

There’s also this cool thing where Golduck sometimes rescues people from shipwrecks.

If we ever go island hopping in Samal and something happens, we’d have our own personal lifeguard. Ugh… I remember that one time, way back in May 2019, 2023 when someone on a jetski… never mind… too disturbing… and graphic.

Space requirements are the main consideration.

We’d need a fishpond that’s at least 10×10 meters, minimum 1.5 meters deep. Construction cost maybe P50,000-80,000 including proper filtration and a small beach area for resting.

The red gem on the forehead is apparently valuable. In the Pokemon Sun Pokedex it says “It is said that the red part of its forehead grants supernatural powers to those who possess one, so it was over-hunted in the past.” Which explains why Golducks are rare. We need to make sure nobody tries to… you know… harvest the gem.

That would be bad.

LEGAL STATUS: Requires exotic Water-Psychic type permit from DENR Pokemon Division (we’re working on paperwork)

CARE TAGS: Psychic Powers • Fast Swimmer • Needs Large Pond • Telepathic • Fish Diet • Temperature Adaptable

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THE APRIL 1ST DELIVERY:

We’re picking up the Golduck egg on April 1st from the breeder in CDO. It should hatch within 60-90 days according to the breeding schedule.

The breeder said to bring:

– P25,000 deposit

– Large insulated container for transport

– Temperature-controlled environment for hatching

– DENR permit application (they’re helping us with this)

We’ll need to set up the pond expansion before the egg hatches. Baby Golduck (well technically it would hatch as Psyduck but we’re getting an evolved one’s egg so… I’m not sure how this works actually) needs water access immediately.

TRIVIA:

• Golduck is often mistaken for the Japanese monster Kappa due to its humanoid duck shape

• Can hold its breath for extended periods while hunting underwater

• The streamlined body allows it to swim faster than any human athlete

• When the forehead gem glows mysteriously, it can use full psychic powers

• Sometimes paddles webbed limbs while sleeping (dreaming about swimming)

• Can shoot massive jets of water from both hands simultaneously for propulsion

• Professional swimmer – can continue swimming for two days straight

• Will drag away those who defile its river (keep the pond clean!)

IMPORTANT APRIL FOOL’S DISCLOSURE:

OK look.

You figured it out already right?

Pokemon aren’t real.

We’re not actually getting a Golduck on April 1st.

This is an April Fool’s joke fact sheet.

BUT… the thought behind it is real. My wife genuinely loves Psyduck/Golduck.

So, here’s what we’re ACTUALLY doing for her birthday in May:

1. A really nice Golduck figure or plushie from Toy Kingdom

2. Pokemon cards featuring Golduck for her collection

3. Maybe frame some Golduck artwork for her office

4. Custom Golduck cake from a ocal pastry shop

The fact sheet is just for fun… but the appreciation for how much she loves Pokemon is 100% real.

Happy April Fool’s Day! PS. If Pokemon WERE real, Golduck would be a legitimately good pet for Davao. The climate works, we have access to fish, and the psychic telepathy thing would be amazing. Just saying…
